Society of Surgeons is the collaborative project of M. Chami (Crown of Cerberus/Koufar/etc) and Shane Church (Hostage Pageant, Crooked Necks, etc). It focuses on the elite, secret societies concerning doctors and their fellow lawyers, hospital managers, nurses, and other allies. Men in suits shaking hands with doctors in their bloody scrubs. Deals made, and deals proposed concerning the fates of celebrities, and other high profile people in need of “medical attention”. Swirling, unnerving tape loops mixed with spastic and violent harsh explosions. Suffocating like the sleeping gas mask being placed over your face. Dubbed on chrome tapes for extra loudness.

Gentle and uplifting. Ten tracks of powerful wavering drones and loops fill you with all that you could be missing. Ethereal female voices and field recordings bath you in light and sonic pleasure. This is the follow-up to Crown’s “Strength” on Human Ignorance, and this is the most cohesive release by this Bay Area tape loop guru so far.
The tape is wrapped in a 4x8 woodcut print, bound by a purple ribbon. Artwork inspired by the music it holds. This is essentially the image that I saw when I first heard the music. Hand drawn design, hand carved relief cut, hand printed. I know Mack is very proud of this release, and I feel great pride in complimenting (what I consider to be) his magnum opus in a visual capacity.

Its been quite some time since we last had an update so I figured I’d catch you folks up on whats been happening with Crown Tapes.
First off, the Crimes of the Crown crew (CoC, Miscreant, Striations) managed its first successful assault on the Pacific Northwest! Many thanks to the following for a goddamn good time:
-Kai, Victoria, their roommates and the rest of Olympia. It was absolutely beautiful.
-Sizzle for having the best pizza ever.
-Eric and Bondage Culture Distribution for the killer art.
-Any and all folks who purchased stuff from us.
Now that we’re finally back and getting into the swing of “normal living”, I’d like to post a few updates about the label and some new offers.
First off, there will be only one more Crown Tapes release left for this year and it will be the Society of Surgeons cassette. All of the others will see the light of day at the beginning of the year. Came home to some wild stuff in regards to work, and repairs on my car, so it will be slow for the rest of the year.
However though, I currently have the last copies of the Winters in Osaka/Plastic Crimewave collaboration LP, as well as the last copes of the Winters in Osaka LP “Clandestine.” Basically I’m going to be offering a special deal on the two. You can buy both records for $18USPPD or $20ROTW. There are only 9 copes of the WIO/PC and 7 Clandestine, so there will be only 7 slots open for this deal.
